Regional Honours for Derby College Students Posted 09 February 2010 A record number of Derby College students have been chosen to represent the East Midlands in national British Colleges Sports competitions this year.
 
Twenty students from the College have been successful in regional trials for a wide range of sports including rugby, football, netball, hockey, golf, badminton, swimming and cross country.
 
Head of Sport Peter Gordon explained: “Hundreds of students have the opportunity to play competitive sport at the College – either as part of their sports-related course based at Prince Charles Avenue or through our Development Centre programme which brings together talented students from all the College sites to compete in their chosen sport on a regular basis.
 
“We have a fantastic track record in British Colleges Sports competitions but this is the largest number of students who have been chosen from hundreds of students from Colleges throughout the East Midlands to now represent the region at national competitions.
 
“The standard of competition is always extremely high and we are justifiably proud of their success.  We now look forward to cheering them on in the national competitions throughout the year.”

Rugby: Tom Memmory, Enan Kenyon, Judah Simpson, Toby Gerring-Smith, Callum Schofield
Female Football: Lucy Antcliffe, Chloe Hutsby, Jemma Grimadell, Phallon Barker
Female Hockey: Rachel Fearn
Golf: Dean Hibbert, Bradley Larrimore
Cross country: Anthony Goodwin
Badminton: Tom Leonard
Swimming: Nicole Bailey
