South Notts Host Inaugural Dodgeball Tournament
Posted 04 January 2010
The first FESCo Participation Dodgeball tournament (16 – 19 year olds) hosted by South Nottingham College took place on Wednesday 16th December. Ten teams entered the tournament (80 students). Teams: Portland College, Bilborough College, South Nottingham College x2, Beckett School x2, Emanuel School x2, and Harry Carlton School x2
The event was very heated and it was clear that everyone who took part in the tournament wanted to win. Unfortunately South Nottingham College just missed out on a Semi Final place in both groups finishing 3rd in the group stages.
Semi finalists: Bilborough College versus Beckett B and Emanuel B versus Beckett A. Beckett A and Bilborough College both progressed to the final but Beckett won the tournament in three straight games.
The tournament was a great success and it was fantastic to see 80 competitors so enthusiastic about a new sport. Volunteers from South Nottingham Colleges Volunteer Programme and Kyle Wedgwood from the UK Dodgeball Association and Nottingham University Dodgeball Club also helped to run the event on the day.
South Nottingham College are sending a team consisting of BND IT and BFD IT students to the East Midland Christmas open on Sunday ay Harborough Leisure Centre where they will take on the British Champions in Dodgeball.
